RATZFATZ Premium Leash - BioThane® or POP-Band
The RATZFATZ Premium Leash allows for flexible, calm, and everyday-suitable leash handling. With clearly defined lengths and high-quality materials, it can be adapted to different situations, dogs, and hands.
The leash was developed for dog owners who value consistent leash information and reliable handling in everyday life as well as in training – without constant regripping, without restlessness.
Why variable leash lengths are crucial in everyday life
In daily use, demands constantly change: narrow paths, open stretches, short training sequences, or phases with more freedom of movement.
Fixed leash lengths often require re-gripping or shortening. This continuously changes the leash information – which can be difficult for many dogs to interpret.
The RATZFATZ enables guidance via clearly defined, reproducible lengths. Distance is consciously chosen and remains constant.
Adjustability & Guidance
There is a chrome-plated snap hook at each end of the leash. The leash can be adjusted in length or formed into a hand loop using the three integrated D-rings.
- 2.2 m – more freedom of movement
- 1.5 m – controlled everyday distance
- 1.35 m – short, structured guidance
The settings are clearly defined and can be changed by unclipping while walking.
Material & Workmanship
The RATZFATZ Premium Leash is designed and manufactured in Germany. It is available in either Original BioThane® or our POP-Band, which is specially produced for our products.
Our BioThane® (USA) is extra thin, very flexible, weatherproof, and ideal for rain, mud, and everyday use. Dirt and moisture can be easily wiped off with water. The material withstands up to 1000 kg of centrifugal force.
The POP-Band has a woven look but is firmer and thicker than conventional nylon leashes. It remains dimensionally stable even under stress and sits comfortably in the hand.
The workmanship includes break-proof stainless steel rings, chrome-plated leash snap hooks (to prevent discoloration and allergic reactions), and stainless steel screws that are additionally bonded.
The stainless steel screws provide a particularly high-quality, clean look and are also robust against localized pressure, such as that caused by the leash snap hook.
Width Recommendation
- 16 mm – for dogs up to approx. 12 kg
- 19 mm – for calm dogs up to approx. 25 kg
- 25 mm – recommended for dogs weighing at least 23 kg and high pulling forces
Selection Tip
If you suffer from arthritis or limited hand strength, we recommend the 16 mm wide BioThane® leash or alternatively the woven POP-Band, as these variants are particularly comfortable in the hand.
POP-Band is generally lighter than BioThane®.
The 25 mm wide BioThane® variant is especially suitable for large hands.
Combination & Security
In combination with our CHILL waist belt, a leash of approx. 2.5 m length is created, giving the dog more space while remaining structured.
Additionally, the RATZFATZ can be used as a second safeguard, e.g., in combination with the STURMFREI® Saver: hooked to the front of the waistband and attached to the back of the harness.
Usage Notes
- Suitable for everyday use and training
- Please check for wear and tear every 6 months
- Regular checks recommended for dogs that pull strongly
- If there are bite marks, do not continue to use and replace with a new leash
