Our ingredients

To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for each 12 kg bag to improve its consistency in our pellets. chamomile

Chamomile is a genus belonging to the daisy family (Asteraceae). It is cultivated extensively in Hungary and Eastern Europe and also grows wild throughout Europe. The name chamomile comes from the Greek word meaning "ground apple," referring to its apple-like fragrance. Chamomile enjoys an excellent reputation in herbal medicine.

We can add chamomile to Yourdog because it can make a positive contribution to the prevention of breed-specific ailments relating to the stomach, intestines, skin, rheumatism, nerves, inflammation and urinary tract.

Chamomile can have a mildly calming effect on dogs and can therefore be used for dogs that are often stressed. Furthermore, it can have a positive effect on dogs with sensitive digestion, as it can reduce swelling and act as an antiseptic.

The tomato belongs to the nightshade family and is descended from the tomato plant, which originally comes from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog, we use the tomato in a culinary sense; here we assume that the tomato is a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories, and high in soluble fiber, which promotes digestion. They also contain lycopene, which gives them their red color. The redder a tomato, the more lycopene it contains. Lycopene not only gives tomatoes their red color but is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene may, among other things, protect against cancer and help with cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, tomatoes contain plenty of vitamin C, as well as vitamins A and B complex, which can contribute to healthy skin and a strengthened immune system.

Tomatoes are added to our dog food because they can positively contribute to the prevention of breed-specific ailments related to digestion, skin, eyesight, and cardiovascular diseases. Furthermore, they can have a generally cleansing effect on the body.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant belonging to the heath family. In the Netherlands, it is found primarily on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the country. Originally from North America, it is believed to have arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique blend of nutrients that can give a powerful boost to a dog's health. Among other things, the berries are rich in minerals like potassium, which ensures healthy fluid balance in the body. These berries are also rich in vitamins A, B, and C, as well as antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes urine more acidic, thus creating a less hospitable environment in the bladder for bacteria. Adding cranberries can also have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. The healthy fiber in cranberries has a positive effect on digestion and promotes a longer feeling of fullness.

Puppy, adult, or senior?

To help you choose the right food for your Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, please refer to the following guidelines. If your Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen is under 11 months old, choose the Puppy variety. For a Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months but under 7 years old, you can choose the Adult variety.

Advice on switching

If you are switching to Yourdog from another brand of dog food, we recommend following these steps. First, feed your dog a mixture of 25% Yourdog and 75% of their old food. Allow two days for your dog to adjust. Then, feed a mixture of 50% Yourdog and 50% of their old food. It is important to allow your dog another two or three days to adjust. Next, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of their old food. Your dog is now almost completely accustomed to Yourdog. Continue this process for two days. After that, you can switch to 100% Yourdog. Please note that Yourdog food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight container or barrel in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food into the tub individually, but to put it in the tub with the whole bag, which should be sealed as tightly as possible.
